Which categories of Overseas Filipino Workers are much in demand ?
On Wednesday, November 23, Workabroad.ph issued its Overseas Salary Report. Workabroad.ph is an online employment marketplace that covers several Asian countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. It also is the Philippines' leading job site for overseas employment opportunities and currently covers 90% market share of overseas employers. Job postings on Workabroad.ph can only be posted by recruitment agencies registered with and licensed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
From January to September this year, a total of 117,696 OFW jobs were offered, of which 39% have been deployed to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia ranked first in WorkAbroad.ph’s list of top 10 countries of deployment with most jobs for OFWs, followed by Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Oman, United States, New Zealand, Brunei and Australia were also included in the list.
Engineering-related jobs are the most in-demand specializations for OFWs with 30,972 job postings on WorkAbroad.ph, followed by general work, such as housekeepers and drivers, with 22,367; and hospitality-related jobs with 13,681.
While jobs in the health care sector are highly paid, these only placed fourth in the list of most in-demand job specializations.
The report also showed that Filipino doctors working abroad receive an average monthly salary of PHP 111,620, with pediatricians and OB gynecologists getting the highest pay.
United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the highest paying country for Filipinos n the health care industry, with doctors getting an average PHP 253,826 monthly salary.
The top 10 highest-paid job specializations for OFWs also include process design & control with an average monthly salary of PHP 87,027; public relations and communications (PHP 83,375); aviation/aircraft maintenance (PHP 81,149) and law/legal services (PHP 80,500).
Other jobs specializations on the list include education/training (PHP 62,438 average monthly salary); quality control/assurance (PHP 58,463); information technology-related (PHP 57,639); engineering-related (PHP 57,102); and architecture/ interior design (PHP 55,660).
