Consumer confidence levels peak in the Philippines

The Nielsen Global Survey of Consumer Confidence and Spending Intentions measures consumer confidence, major concerns, and spending intentions amongst more than 30,000 respondents with internet access in 60 countries.

Filipino and Indonesian consumers are now tied as the second most optimistic in the world in the fourth quarter of 2014, according to a Nielsen's Global Survey.

Stuart Jamieson, Managing Director of Nielsen Philippines, said the surge of consumer optimism is a result of the continuous growth of the BPO sector which is one of the country’s bright spots, together with the global deployment of Overseas Filipino Workers.

In line with that, unemployment levels are at an all-time low in 10 years as a result of a growing economy.

The rapidly growing consumer class is composed of people who spend on technology, real estate, consumer and retail goods.
